Meet Doreen and Tony
Doreen and Tony DiLeonardo, forward thinking married couple, are the Progressive Union. The DiLeonardo’s are both native New Yorkers; Doreen born and raised on Long Island and Tony in Queens.
Doreen has been a “news junkie” since the age of Twelve. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism at Iona College in New Rochelle NY. She did her internship at NBC Radio, followed by a position as an editorial assistant for notable columnist Victor Riesel and later she went on to work in Advertising as a copy editor. Doreen has also worked in the special events industry.
Tony DiLeonardo is a writer who studied at the New School in Manhattan. He is a history buff, an avid reader as well as a cinema aficionado. After years of working dead-end non union jobs, Tony became Teamster in the late 1990’s working for the NYC Department of Sanitation.
Both Tony and Doreen are involved in the local political scene in Queens. The DiLeonardo’s have many causes they support including: Women’s Rights, Environmental Protection, Health Care for All, Gay Rights, Civil Rights and Animal Rights to name a few.
Tony and Doreen have worked as volunteers at the local animal shelter. They are strong advocates for animals rights and against any form of cruelty to animals.
The DiLeonardos met in February 2005 on super bowl Sunday and have been together ever since married in January 2007 .The DiLeonardos reside in Queens NY with their rescue cats Ricochet and Bon-Bon, who on occasion makes a surprise appearance on their weekly radio show!
